We summited Blood Mountain on March 6th. It was a very hard climb up. But so worth it. The day we went was right after a big ice storm. So everything was covered in a layer of ice and was so beautiful. We spent a lot of time on top of the mountain, enjoying the views and ice. We couldn’t have planned a better day to summit the mountain.

We didn’t see many people on the mountain, so we had the views to ourselves. As we were climbing the 4,459 foot mountain we were in awe of how incredible the views were and how the ice was perfectly attached to all the trees and bushes. We were so lucky to have had the chance to climb it on such an amazing day.

The climb down wasn’t bad at all, it started with some rock scrambles and boulders. And then turned into a steep hiking path and at the end it was a gradual nice path down into Neel’s Gap. Where Mountain Crossings staff were super friendly and were able to help us with laundry and showering. We even got hot pizza for lunch and tented behind the building before pushing on the next morning.

Blood Mountain was a pretty difficult climb, but it was so worth it and would be an incredible day hike!
