After weeks of hiking and making some mistakes and some great memories we have hiked into North Carolina. It is an amazing feeling to have walked from one state into the next and will only feel more and more exciting as we continue crossing state lines. We had a lunch break on the state boarder and then pushed on, so we could get to the next shelter before the upcoming storm got us wet.
The first couple climbs in NC were so difficult, they felt like they were straight up with multiple downed trees that we had to climb over. When you think of hiking in the woods you might think going down hill will be easier than going up. But going up is actually much easier, when going down your knees will begin to get very sore from the constant strain of it. Sometimes there are stairs which you might think sounds easier, but they are much different then the stairs in your house. Every stair is a different size, some may just be a couple inches and the next one could be the same height as your coffee table. So when i see stairs coming up on the trail I regret it and prefer just the sloped dirt trail.

So far we haven’t had any crazy stories or anything unique happen up to this point. But it has been incredible and exciting to be here in the mountains. It is the best feeling when you are hiking in the woods and realize there is no other human as far as you can see or hear. It is just you and God’s creations with the birds singing and the wind rustling the leaves, as the river is gurgling near by and view of the mountains are right in front of you. This is just one of the reasons why I love being out in the woods on this hike, it is such an amazing and relaxing feeling.

We are getting close to completing our first 100 miles! I can’t wait to cross into the triple digits of our hiked miles.
